- Why did you choose Ridgewater?
I chose to attend Ridgewater College foremost to obtain my degree in veterinary technology and secondly, to continue my volleyball career playing for the Ridgewater Warriors. I was able to make this choice because Ridgewater is one of very few schools to offer veterinary technology as a major. Additionally, it has been ranked in the top 50 vet tech programs in the country. Not only is Ridgewater cost-effective, but it also provides a close-knit and welcoming atmosphere with kind and caring students, staff, and authorities. Something that I particularly enjoyed about Ridgewater is that it's majors, programs, and activities provided many amazing opportunities to get involved, travel, and meet new people.
- What has been your best experience so far?
During my first year, some of the best experiences I had included all the hands-on learning opportunities we got with the live animals at the college. In my second year at Ridgewater, the best experience so far has been getting to know and work with my new teammates and learning the ways we can work together to be a successful team.
- You guys have won 4 of the last 5 matches. What do you attribute that success to?
Like I mentioned in the last question, learning how each player works individually and figuring out the best way we can work together as one single unit I feel has led to our team success. Not only are we teammates, but we are friends too, which means we keep each other's heads high and provide support to one another when we need it.
- Looking ahead at the next two weeks, what will you and the team need to do to continue the success that you've had over the last few weeks?
We need to keep our on and off court communication strong along with keeping our energy high and staying positive no matter the situation. By keeping to the failure recovery system, taught by our coach Amanda Bohlsen, if we make a mistake, we shake it off and get the next one.
- What are your future plans after Ridgewater?
After graduating with a degree in veterinary technology, I plan to complete my internship in Colorado Springs at either a small/large animal veterinary clinic or the Cheyanne Mountain Zoo. I would like to further my education by specializing in zoology because I love the idea of getting to work with and learn about hundreds of different species and exotics. With my professional degree, I plan to work at an accredited zoo or clinic to care for and aid in the health and lives of animals.
