The Ridgewater College volleyball team hit the road for a pair of matches this past weekend, coming away with one win and one hard-fought loss.
On Friday night, the Warriors battled Anoka-Ramsey Community College in a five-set thriller. After taking the opening set 25-18, Ridgewater fell in the second and third before rallying to force a decisive fifth. Despite a strong effort, the Warriors came up just short, dropping the match 3–2. Rachel Jakel and Kari Bristle (pictured below) led the way offensively with 10 kills, while Johanna Braun had 29 assists. Defensively, Hannah Magnuson was outstanding with 17 digs, helping keep Ridgewater in the match.
The Warriors bounced back quickly on Saturday with a strong performance against Century College, earning a 3–1 victory. After dropping the first set, Ridgewater responded with three straight wins to secure the match. Jakel once again provided steady offense with a team-high 11 kills, while Braun (pictured below) had 21 assists. Ellie Moulton added balance at the net with 6 kills and 6 digs, and the Warriors' defense was sharp with 61 total digs as a team.
With the split, Ridgewater showed both resilience and growth, proving they can compete in tight battles and respond with determination the next day. The Warriors will look to build on the momentum from Saturday's win on September 19th when they head to Rochester to take on the Yellowjackets.
