The Ridgewater Warrior volleyball team opened homecoming week in style, sweeping Minnesota State-Fergus Falls 3-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The Warriors dominated with set scores of 25-6, 25-19, and 25-17, improving to 2-3 in the MCAC and 4-7 overall.
Freshman setter Johanna Braun dished out 30 assists, connecting often with sophomore Rachel Jakel (7 kills, 6 digs, 2 aces) and freshman Kori Bristle (10 kills, 8 digs). Maria Rodriguez added 5 kills, while Martha Steinhagen and Eben Overcash chipped in 4 apiece. Libero Hannah Magnuson anchored the defense with 12 digs as Ridgewater finished with 11 aces and 33 kills.
Fergus Falls pushed to 19 points in the second set, but Ridgewater's serving and defense kept the Spartans from gaining momentum.
The Warriors continue homecoming week at home against Century College on Friday, Sept. 26, and Anoka-Ramsey on Saturday, Sept. 27.
