Ridgewater Volleyball Goes 2-1 on the Week, Stays in Playoff Hunt

Willmar, MN — The Ridgewater College volleyball team put together a strong week, going 2-1 with wins over M State–Fergus Falls and Riverland Community College. The Warriors' only setback came against Minnesota West, falling 3-1. With the results, Ridgewater improves to 8-9 overall and 6-5 in MCAC Conference play.

The Warriors opened the week on Wednesday with a road victory at Fergus Falls, defeating the Spartans 3-1 (28-30, 25-12, 25-12, 25-19). Johanna Braun set the tone for Ridgewater with 44 assists, while Rachel Jakel led the attack with 25 kills. Hannah Magnuson added 19 digs, and both Ellie Moulton and Jakel chipped in 13 apiece.

 

On Friday, Ridgewater faced the Lady Jays, falling 3-1 (12-25, 19-25, 26-24, 12-25). Braun again led the Warriors with 26 assists and 15 digs. Jakel recorded 11 kills, while Kori Bristle added 9. Jakel and Magnuson added 14 and 13 digs, respectively.

 

The Warriors bounced back on Saturday, earning a 3-1 win over Riverland (20-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-7). Braun continued her steady play with 35 assists, while Jakel tallied 13 kills and Bristle added 11. Magnuson anchored the defense with 17 digs, and Jakel contributed another 15.

 

Ridgewater returns to action Wednesday with a trip to Worthington to take on the Lady Jays once again. The Warriors currently sit fourth in the MCAC South standings and are looking to strengthen their playoff position as the regular season winds down.
