This week's edition of the Ridgewater Athlete Spotlight features freshman Volleyball player from Kerkhoven, MN, Eben Overcash.
Why Ridgewater and what are you studying while in school here?
I chose to come back to Ridgewater this year because i wouldn't be where i am today withouth the family and community i have here. I am in the cosmetology program this year.
What has been your favorite aspect of being on the Ridgewater Volleyball team?
Being able to be on the volleyball team in general. These girls are my biggest cheerleaders as i continue to work my way back into things on and off the court.
Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
A new thing i have been into has been Yoga!
What's your go to pump-up song?
I don't have one, i am the pump-up!
If you could meet any athlete (past or present) who would it be any why?
Harper Murry and Andy Jackson, I love both of them. They are volleyball queens!
What is your favorite sports memory to date?
Playing in our first home game this season was an unreal feeling. After my year of recovery, that game was the true moment i felt "i made it, i'm back." We pulled out a win that night and it is a special moment for me.
Who has been the biggest influence on your athletic career and why?
In the most humble way possible, i would say myself. I am no d1 athlete but i have overcame so much and have pushed myself to be the athlete i am today. With each goal i reach, i set a new one to push myself to achieve.
