Warriors Split at Home

The Ridgewater Warriors women's basketball team earned a split during a home weekend series, picking up a convincing 87–69 win over Mesabi Range on Friday before dropping a hard-fought 66–62 decision to Minnesota North College–Vermillion on Saturday.

Friday night's matchup with Mesabi Range was tightly contested early, as the Norse edged ahead 24–22 after the first quarter. Charlize Arcoren kept the Warriors within striking distance, scoring 12 of her 18 points in the opening period. Ridgewater responded in the second quarter, outscoring Mesabi 24–19 to take a 46–43 lead into halftime.

The Warriors took control after the break, delivering their strongest quarter of the night. Ridgewater dominated the third quarter 28–12, creating separation that proved too much for Mesabi to overcome. Madison Norsten led the way with 27 points on an efficient 7-for-19 shooting performance, while Julia Hines added 23 points, knocking down seven three-pointers to fuel the Warriors' offensive surge.

Saturday's contest against Vermillion was a battle from start to finish. The game featured 10 lead changes and remained close throughout, but Ridgewater was unable to sustain momentum down the stretch, falling 66–62. Norsten once again paced the Warriors, scoring 25 points. Aly Wendlandt contributed across the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals in a strong all-around performance.

With the split, Ridgewater moves to 5–8 on the season. The Warriors have two non-conference games remaining before MCAC play begins and will return to action January 2nd and 3rd at the CLC Classic.
