Warriors Finish as Region 13 Runner-Up

The Ridgewater Warriors (20–5) entered the Region 13 Tournament as the No. 2 seed from the South and quickly proved why they were among the top teams in the region. Ridgewater opened the tournament Thursday against the North's No. 3 seed, Minnesota North–Rainy River, and delivered an impressive offensive performance to secure a convincing first-round victory.

 

The Warriors jumped out to a fast start, dominating the first half and building a commanding 64–36 lead at the break. Ridgewater maintained control throughout the second half to earn a 108–84 win. The Warriors shot an efficient 57.4 percent from the field while holding Rainy River to 46.7 percent shooting. Brenton McKinney led the scoring effort with 21 points, while DeAndre Holloway added 17 points and 10 rebounds to help pace the balanced attack.

 

With the win, Ridgewater advanced to Friday's semifinal matchup against the North's No. 1 seed, Central Lakes Community College. The Warriors held a narrow 47–43 advantage at halftime and carried that momentum into the second half. Ridgewater continued its strong play down the stretch, securing a 105–97 victory. Holloway delivered a dominant performance with 42 points and 13 rebounds, while Tyrese Mayo contributed 21 points and four assists in the win.

 

The Warriors then moved on to the Region 13 Championship game to face the South's top seed, Riverland Community College. The two teams had split their regular-season meetings, setting the stage for a tightly contested title game. The matchup lived up to expectations, featuring 12 lead changes throughout the night. Despite a strong effort, Ridgewater fell just short as Riverland claimed the championship with a 90–82 victory. Mayo led the Warriors with 29 points and eight assists, while Holloway added 21 points and nine rebounds.
