Warriors Open Season 1–3 in Rochester

The Ridgewater softball team kicked off its season with a four-game weekend in Rochester, marking the debut of first-year Head Coach Jordyn Swaboda and first-year assistant coach Morgan Flann.

The Warriors opened play on Friday against Central Lakes Community College. After tying the game 3–3 in the top of the third, Ridgewater couldn't keep pace down the stretch, ultimately falling 11–3. Sophomore pitcher Nevaeh Rahm (pictured below) was a bright spot in the matchup, striking out 10 Raider batters despite the loss.

Ridgewater bounced back in Game 2, earning its first win of the season in dramatic walk-off fashion with a 5–4 victory over Minnesota North–Vermillion. Freshman outfielder Rochelle Dean sparked the rally with a triple, and freshman shortstop Hannah Magnuson (pictured below) delivered the game-winning single to seal the win.

The Warriors returned to action Saturday, dropping a 7–4 contest to Rainy River before falling to Minnesota North–Itasca 10–1 in their final game of the weekend.

Ridgewater now sits at 1–3 on the season and returns to Rochester on Friday for a doubleheader against the Yellowjackets. The Warriors will make their home debut on April 7th when they host Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
